Burdock Root

from $7.00

Cut, dried burdock root (Arctium lappa) with a deep, earthy character and a mildly sweet flavor with a light grassy note. A traditional European and Asian herb, burdock has been simmered into tonics for centuries and is still eaten as a root vegetable (gobo) in Japan.

Burdock is naturally rich in antioxidants and makes a smooth, grounding daily cup. For a warmer blend, pair it with dandelion root, ginger, cinnamon or licorice root.

Ingredients: Burdock root (Arctium lappa)

Hot brew: 1 teaspoon per 8 oz of water at 212°F. Cover and steep 10–15 minutes. For a stronger cup, simmer 2 tablespoons in 3 cups of water for 30 minutes, steep 20 minutes more, then strain.

Earthy root blend: Simmer 1 teaspoon each of burdock root and dandelion root with a thin slice of fresh ginger in 10 oz of water for 15 minutes. Strain and sweeten with honey.

Caffeine: None. Naturally caffeine-free.

⚠️ Consult your healthcare provider. Avoid if allergic to ragweed, daisies, chrysanthemums or marigolds. May lower blood sugar; use caution if you have diabetes or take blood-sugar or blood-thinning medication. May have a mild diuretic effect. Not for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or by children. Stop use 2 weeks before surgery.
