Whole dried elderberries with a deep, tart, earthy dark-berry flavor. Simmer them on their own for a rich, purple tea, add them to your favorite herbal blends, or cook up a batch of homemade elderberry syrup with warming spices.
Ingredients: Dried elderberries (Sambucus nigra)
Elderberry tea: Simmer 1 tablespoon of elderberries in 10 oz of water for 15 minutes. Strain, and sweeten with honey if you like.
Homemade elderberry syrup: Simmer ⅔ cup of dried elderberries in 3½ cups of water with a cinnamon stick, a few slices of fresh ginger and 4–5 cloves for 45 minutes, until the liquid is reduced by about half. Mash the berries, strain, and let cool until warm. Stir in 1 cup of honey. Store in a sealed jar in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Caffeine: None. Naturally caffeine-free.
⚠️Elderberries should always be cooked before eating or drinking. Do not eat raw. Do not give honey to children under 1 year old. Consult your healthcare provider.
