Delicate dried elderflowers with a sweet, floral, honey-like flavor and fruity notes of pear and lychee. Harvested in early summer from the creamy blossom clusters of the European elder tree, elderflowers have been a beloved European tradition for centuries.
Steep them for a soft, silky herbal tea, or make your own elderflower cordial for lemonade, sparkling water and cocktails.
Ingredients: Elderflowers (Sambucus nigra)
Hot brew: 1–2 teaspoons (or 1 tea bag) per 8 oz of water at 212°F. Cover and steep 5–8 minutes. Lovely with honey and lemon.
Elderflower cordial: Pour 2 cups of boiling water over ½ cup of dried elderflowers and the zest and slices of 1 lemon. Cover and steep 4–6 hours. Strain, then heat with 1 cup of sugar until dissolved. Cool, bottle, and refrigerate for up to 2 weeks. Mix 1 part cordial with 4–5 parts still or sparkling water.
Caffeine: None. Naturally caffeine-free.
