Cut, oxidized honeybush (Cyclopia intermedia.) leaves and stems with a smooth, full-bodied character and a naturally sweet flavor with notes of honey, dried fruit and light roast. Like rooibos (red bush), honeybush grows only in the mountains of South Africa’s Cape, where it has been brewed as a comforting everyday tea for generations.
Honeybush takes its name from the honey scent of its yellow flowers. The “red” refers to how the leaves are oxidized, which deepens them to a rich amber-red and brings out their sweetness. Often compared to rooibos, honeybush is typically sweeter and rounder. It’s naturally low in tannins, so it stays smooth even after a long steep. Enjoy it plain, with a splash of milk, or iced.
Ingredients: Honeybush (Cyclopia intermedia)
Hot brew: 1–2 teaspoons (or 1 tea bag) per 8 oz of water at 212°F. Cover and steep 5–10 minutes. Enjoy plain or with milk and honey.
Iced honeybush: Steep 2 tablespoons in 16 oz of boiling water for 10 minutes. Strain, cool, and pour over ice with a slice of orange or a sprig of mint.
Caffeine: None. Naturally caffeine-free.
⚠️ Consult your healthcare provider if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have a hormone-sensitive condition, or take medication.
