Turmeric Root

from $6.00

Cut, dried turmeric root (Curcuma longa) with a warm, earthy character and a gently peppery, slightly bitter flavor with hints of ginger. A staple of South Asian cooking and traditional Ayurvedic practice, turmeric has been brewed into golden, comforting cups for centuries.

Turmeric’s vivid golden color brightens any blend (and anything it touches, so mind your mugs and countertops!). For a rounder cup, pair it with ginger, cinnamon, lemon or a pinch of black pepper, and add a spoonful of honey.

Ingredients: Turmeric root (Curcuma longa)

Hot brew: 1 teaspoon (or 1 tea bag) per 8 oz of water at 212°F. Cover and steep 10–15 minutes. For a stronger cup, simmer the root for 10 minutes, then strain.

Golden blend: Simmer 1 teaspoon of turmeric root with a thin slice of fresh ginger and a pinch of black pepper in 10 oz of water for 10 minutes. Strain, then stir in honey and a splash of milk if you like.

Caffeine: None. Naturally caffeine-free.

⚠️ Consult your healthcare provider. Avoid if you have gallbladder problems or gallstones. Use caution if you take blood-thinning or blood-sugar medication. Not for use in medicinal amounts during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Stop use 2 weeks before surgery.
