Cut, dried valerian root (Valeriana officinalis) with a bold, earthy, woodsy character and a gently bitter flavor with hints of black licorice. A traditional European and Asian herb, valerian has been brewed as a bedtime cup for centuries.
Valerian is famous for its strong, musky aroma, a love-it-or-hate-it trait (cats adore it!). To soften it, blend valerian with chamomile, lemon balm, peppermint or lavender, and add a spoonful of honey.
Ingredients: Valerian root (Valeriana officinalis)
Hot brew: 1 teaspoon (or 1 tea bag) per 8 oz of water at 212°F. Cover and steep 10 minutes. Sweeten with honey.
Bedtime blend: Steep ½ teaspoon of valerian root with 1 teaspoon each of chamomile and lemon balm in 8 oz of boiling water for 10 minutes.
Caffeine: None. Naturally caffeine-free.
⚠️Consult your healthcare provider. May cause drowsiness. Do not drive or operate machinery after drinking. Do not combine with alcohol, sedatives or sleep aids. Not for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or by children under 3. Stop use 2 weeks before surgery or if you take medication.
